Courtney Harper and Patience Brown-Johnson have turned their passion and commitment for children into a reality by opening a much-needed day care center in Harrison County. Their vision was to create a safe, nurturing and educational environment where children can thrive while giving working families peace of mind.
Following months of planning, preparation and hard work, Harper and Brown-Johnson officially opened their new center, Kinder Sprouts, at 730 Peppard Ave. in Cadiz, the former West Gate High School. The facility fills a critical gap in child care services in the region.
“We are so anxious and ready to begin serving the children of Harrison County,” said co-owner Courtney Harper. “There is definitely a need for our services from both here in the county and the surrounding area. This building has all of the needs necessary to make the day care center environmentally friendly. Another thing this center will bring is employment opportunities.”

“This opportunity for us is our true calling,” said co-owner Patience Brown-Johnson. “It is so good to be back here locally. Our hope is that those that have been traveling distances for day care services will find a place here with us in Cadiz. Additionally, with this facility being close to work for some parents, we hope this location will help to lighten their daily obligations.”
“This is about making a difference. We know firsthand how important it is for families to have reliable and quality childcare close to home. We poured our hearts into this center so parents in Harrison County don’t have to choose between their careers and their children’s care,” Brown-Johnson said.
Several county and village officials joined residents to welcome Kinder Sprouts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “I’m excited for Courtney and very happy that the county was able to help her with a place to open her day care center,” said Harrison County Commissioner Dustin Corder. “I believe it’s something the county needs and we are pleased to be part of it.”
“I would like to welcome Courtney and Patience and their staff to the community,” said Commissioner Amy Norris. “I am delighted that they are here and providing a day care for the citizens of our community. I want to wish them the best in this endeavor.”
“Congratulations to Courtney and Patience,” said Cadiz Mayor Kevin Jones. “This day care center will make a great addition to the city. It has been a long time coming. The building is beautiful and exact for this purpose. Both Brandon and I wish them the best.”
“The Chamber has just cut a ribbon on a facility that will bring a lot of happy people here to enjoy the relief from long drives and worries about their children while at work,” said Milo Baker, executive director of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce. “On behalf of the Chamber and all of the businesses within the county and surrounding area in which we serve, we want to wish Courtney and Patience all of the luck in this opportunity.”
The center will open with about five employees and could grow to as many as 12 to 15. For more information, contact Courtney Blanchard-Harper at 740-320-4029 or KinderSprouts12@gmail.com.
