A trip north to East Liverpool Dec. 4 proved profitable for the Harrison Central girls basketball team. Carrying momentum from their earlier win over Brooke, the Lady Huskies earned a 41-34 victory over the Lady Potters. With the win, Harrison Central moved to 2-2 on the season.

Kara Blackburn finished with nine points, hitting a 3-pointer, two field goals and two free throws. Mik Pelegreen added seven points on a 3-pointer and two field goals. Both Pelegreen and Blackburn continue to show strength behind the arc.

Bailey Smith scored two points. Ady Stull contributed a field goal and a free throw. Kelsey Powers added two field goals and a free throw for five points.

Emily Cope also turned in a nine-point performance with two 3-pointers and three free throws. Ava Conley added six points on three field goals.

The Huskies have shown notable improvement following their first two outings, when they struggled with missed opportunities and rebounding. Their back-to-back wins over Brooke and East Liverpool demonstrate their ability to compete despite having less size than last season.

The coaching staff has emphasized playing to the team’s strengths, and the Huskies’ recent performance suggests they can challenge many opponents if they maintain their current style of play. Their speed also remains one of their greatest assets.

The Lady Huskies will return home Dec. 8 to face Beaver Local.
