Why should residents vote for you?
I’ve seen firsthand the importance of strong schools for our kids and our community. I will listen, lead with common sense, and work hard to give every student the best chance to succeed. I am committed to being a responsible steward of taxpayers’ dollars, ensuring every investment benefits our students, our schools, and our community.
What experience do you bring to the table?
I bring 35 years in education—including 25 as a guidance counselor at Jefferson County JVS. I’ve worked with many districts and administrators, giving me valuable insight into best practices that help students succeed. I’ll use that experience to make smart, student-focused decisions for our schools.
What sets you apart from other candidates?
What sets me apart is the experience and perspective I bring. I hold two master’s degrees—one in school counseling and one in educational leadership—along with a principal’s certificate. With 35 years in education, including my role as a guidance counselor at Jefferson County JVS, I have been instrumental in starting programs like Animal Science and Heavy Equipment, giving students hands-on experience and career-ready skills. Beyond the classroom, my husband and I live on our third generation family farm, and with our children and grandson here in the county, I’m deeply invested in the future of our community. I will use my experience and dedication to ensure our schools provide the best opportunities for all students.
What issues facing the school are you most concerned about?
I’m most concerned about ensuring that every student has access to high-quality education and opportunities, no matter where they live. That includes maintaining strong academic programs, supporting our teachers, and offering career and technical pathways that prepare students for both college and local jobs. I’m also focused on keeping schools safe, welcoming, and a place where students feel valued and supported. Finally, I want to make sure our schools remain a strong hub for our community, connecting families, local businesses, and neighbors in ways that help everyone thrive.
What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
If elected, I hope to ensure that our schools provide every student with the tools and opportunities to succeed, whether they’re heading to college, technical training, or entering the workforce. I want to support our teachers with the resources they need, maintain safe and welcoming schools, and strengthen the connection between schools, families, and our community. With my experience in education and leadership, I plan to bring practical solutions and a student-first approach to every decision the board makes.
