Harrison County reviews asbestos removal bids from three companies
Commissioners table decisions after receiving lower offers for properties in Scio, Cadiz, Jewett, Hopedale and German Township
Earlier bids for several locations to remove asbestos were rejected after Harrison County Commissioner Dustin Corder explained that only one company bid on each location and the bids were too high.
Three companies submitted new bids, which were opened Sept. 3.
Corder read the bids, starting with Raze International Inc., which bid on two properties on Jewett-Germano Road. One property, consisting of a house and building, came in at $19,790. The second, which included a house, shed, store and barn, was bid at $46,900.
The next set of bids involved three properties in Scio. Raze bid $12,438 for 148 E. College St., $20,000 for 110 W. College St. and $15,760 for 116 W. College St.
For two properties in Cadiz and one in Jewett, Raze submitted bids of $40,954 for 715 Country Club Road, $27,342 for 315-317 Grant St. and $10,750 for 101 Lake St.
Raze also bid on two properties in Hopedale, offering $7,000 for 163 E. Main St. and $11,540 for 352 Hedges St.
The second company, H&H Environmental LLC, undercut Raze on several properties. Its bids for the three Scio properties came in at $10,500, $7,500 and $7,500. For the Cadiz and Jewett properties, H&H bid $28,800, $14,675 and $3,500. For the Hopedale properties, bids were $975 and $1,300. H&H also bid $1,300 and $14,450 on two German Township properties, again lower than Raze.
The third company, Aster Oilfield Services Inc., submitted bids in the middle range. For the German Township properties, Aster bid $8,700 and $22,700, totaling $31,400. For the three Scio properties, bids were $2,200, $4,900 and $900. Aster also bid $1,200 and $900 for the Hopedale properties.
By total amounts, H&H was the low bidder for the two German Township properties at $15,750. Aster was low bidder for the Scio properties at $8,000 and for the Cadiz and Jewett properties at $29,200. Raze was the low bidder for the Hopedale properties at $18,540.
All bids were tabled for further review.
