The Harrison County Regional Chamber of Commerce held its August meeting Aug. 21 at Zion Retreat and RV Park, where members learned about the site’s facilities and recreational opportunities.

Seven businesses were represented at the meeting, with attendees including Tressa Raben and Julie Marshall of AloNovus, Barbara Korba of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Nikki Saffell of Woodsfield Savings Bank, Nan Mattern of the chamber, Joyce Klingler of HCRCC, HCHA and AAA94, Christy and Ray McMillon of Southeast Publications, Becky Fulton and Kate Kimble of Knight-Miller Law, Megan Strader and Joanna Bryan of Huntington Bank, and chamber Executive Director Milo Baker.

The guest speaker was Marcia Stafford, marketing representative for Zion Retreat and RV Park. She outlined the retreat’s offerings, including camping areas, lake recreation, the RV park, and both rustic and luxury housing options.

“There are many experiences to enjoy at this retreat,” Stafford said. “This pavilion has a 150-person capacity. We just recently held a function for the Harrison Central football team. Following their exercises on our football field, the team got to use our zipline and enjoy the retreat. Union Local has also used our football field for soccer practice. The lake is a 25-acre experience, and there are canoes and boats at the campers’ disposal. There is a trail we call the Salvation Trail that loops around the lake and is almost a 2-mile hike.”

Following the meeting, Stafford guided attendees on a tour of the retreat, including its cabins, RV camp, dog park, beach and fishing area.

“It was an extreme pleasure to visit here today,” Baker said. “Just coming into the Zion property, it was obvious that I had entered a place where I would want to visit. The RV park from the road seemed full and the lake areas are very beautiful. I want to thank Marcia for the invitation and the providers of the great lunch that was prepared for us. I think all of us would agree this is a place we would like to visit again.”
