Harrison County approves airport grant application for runway and parking upgrades
Commissioners also authorize funding transfers and review purchase orders across multiple county departments
The Harrison County Commissioners, at their Oct. 15 meeting, approved Resolution 40-25 authorizing the Harrison County Airport Authority to apply for an Ohio Airport Improvement Program grant through the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Office of Aviation for fiscal year 2026.
The resolution states that ODOT’s Office of Aviation provides funding for publicly owned airports through the OAIP. The airport authority is eligible to apply for matching grant funds for general aviation airports to reconstruct the south apron and to design and reconstruct the terminal parking lot. The resolution authorizes the airport authority president to enter into a grant contract with ODOT if funding is awarded.
In other business, the Harrison County Child Support Enforcement Agency was granted a $10,000 transfer from the general fund.
Under purchase orders and vouchers, the county treasurer’s office received approval for several transfers totaling just over $12,200 for equipment, travel, bank service fees, PERS and employee salary expenses.
Harrison County Job and Family Services vouchers included $5,770.49 for the public assistance, children services, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and Family and Children First Council funds. WIOA expenditures totaled $7,916.72, and the Public Children Services Agency had voucher totals of $40,907.34.
Purchase orders for the county engineer’s office included Kalida Truck Equipment Inc. for $72.02, Kimball Midwest for $551.58, Kimble Recycling and Disposal for $150.96, RJ Wright and Sons Ltd. for $19,534.81 and Schaeffer Mfg. Co. for $829.46.
Commissioners’ purchase orders totaled $72,393.56 and included expenditures for water transport, Staples, Kimble Recycling & Disposal Inc., Quadient Finance USA Inc., American Electric Power and D&E Electric.
