Harrison Central wrestlers split road duals along the river

The Harrison Central wrestling teams were on the road twice this week, traveling both up and down the river for a pair of dual meets.

The first stop came Dec. 10 in Toronto, where the Red Knights hosted the Huskies. Harrison Central had six varsity wrestlers earn wins in the dual.

At 126 pounds, Aiden Hensley defeated Toronto’s Ryvor Cross. The Huskies then controlled the next three weight classes, beginning with Jakob Kreptowski winning by fall over Chris Hatch at 138. Andrew Cox followed with a pin of Kenny Jett at 144, and Brody McCabe earned a technical fall over Braeden Record.

Toronto picked up a win at 157, where Caden McGrath pinned Brennan Engstrom. Harrison Central answered at 165 as Cael Bryant defeated Michael Leone by decision.

Toronto claimed the remaining weight classes with the exception of 190, where Jaden Harris pinned Christian Briggs. The Red Knights also received forfeit wins at 175 and 215.

The final score was Harrison Central 32, Toronto 24.

The Harrison Central junior high team also posted a victory in Toronto, winning 57-10. Pins were recorded by Lane Hibbits, Bentley Manbeck and Landon Cummings.

The Huskies were back on the road Dec. 17, traveling to Rayland to face Buckeye Local.

Buckeye Local opened the meet with three wins by forfeit before Harrison Central responded. Hensley earned a major decision over Izaiah Hundley, and Kreptowski followed with a fall against Steven Bolock.

The Panthers then won the next six weight classes, including a victory by Chase Milton over Andrew Cox at 138, a forfeit, a decision by Trey McCoy over Brody McCabe at 150, a fall by Geno DelVecchio over Brennan Engstrom at 157, a win by Sam Saldivar over Cael Bryant at 165 and another forfeit.

Harrison Central picked up two late wins. Harris earned a technical fall over Tristin Weldon at 190, and Knox McKibben, returning to the lineup after injury, defeated Tucker Winski at 215. Buckeye Local closed the scoring with a forfeit.

The final score was Buckeye Local 50, Harrison Central 21.
