Harrison Central wrestlers fall to Indian Creek, Martins Ferry
Indian Creek hosted Harrison Central for a tri-match this week
Indian Creek hosted Harrison Central for a tri-match this week featuring the Huskies, Indian Creek and Martins Ferry.
Harrison Central fell to Indian Creek 42-27. The match opened with a double forfeit at 106. Indian Creek’s Maddox Thomas won at 113 by forfeit. At 120, Harrison Central’s Aiden Hensley won a 6-2 decision over Jackson Scharfenberg. Harrison Central also picked up forfeits from Cameron Fulton and Andrew Cox. At 190, Jaden Harris won by fall in 31 seconds over Jayden Sturtevant.
Indian Creek earned multiple wins by forfeit, including at 126, 136, 150 and 215. The 285 match ended in a double forfeit.
The Huskies also fell to Martins Ferry in the second match of the night. The meet began with two forfeits before Hensley won by forfeit at 120. After a double forfeit, Martins Ferry’s Silas Simpson won by fall over Fulton at 132. At 144, Harrison Central’s Cox lost to Keenan Lucey. Martins Ferry won by fall over Brennan Engstrom, Tristan Cummings and Alex Mishler. Harrison Central forfeited 175 before Harris won a 4-1 decision over Isaac Clark at 190. Tayson Palmer defeated Knox McKibben by default.
Harrison Central’s junior high team went 2-0, defeating Martins Ferry 38-16 and Indian Creek 40-39.
“I am very happy about both those scores considering we had four of our starters out of the lineup due to injuries,” junior high coach Drew Case said.
Wrestlers going undefeated for the day were Louden Smith, Levon Sturgeon, Nelson Lan, Bentley Manbeck and Jaxon Ferrell.
Harrison Central will travel to Wheeling for the 72nd Ron Mauck OVAC Tournament Thursday, Jan. 15.
