Freeport man killed in motorcycle crash
A local man lost his life in a motorcycle crash along U.S. 22, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The incident, a single-vehicle crash, occurred in Cadiz Township within Harrison County, near milepost 14.
Robert Hettick, a 59-year-old resident of Freeport, was identified as the victim. Operating a 2023 Harley-Davidson Pan American motorcycle, Hettick was traveling westbound on U.S. 22 on Friday, May 24, around 9 p.m. when he failed to navigate a left curve. Troopers say he veered off the right side of the road and collided with a guardrail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the crash. Assisting authorities were the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Cadiz Fire Department, Hopedale EMS, and ODOT.
