The Harrison County Commissioners approved two agreements at their recent meeting, including financial assistance for a village project and a contract for food services at the new jail.
Agreement 38-25 provides up to $10,000 to aid the village of Bowerston with a roof replacement project. The motion, introduced by Commissioner Amy Norris, passed unanimously.
The board also unanimously approved Agreement 39-25 with Trinity Services Group Inc. of Oldsmar, Fla., to provide food services for the new county jail. The contract includes a clause allowing either party to cancel “at any time … for convenience and without cause,” provided a 60-day written notice is given.
“In the event Trinity elects to terminate the agreement without cause, it shall continue to provide services if requested in writing by the client — Harrison County — for up to an additional 90 days,” Commissioner Dustin Corder read from the contract.
Sheriff Mark Touville thanked the board for finalizing the agreement, noting the “back and forth” between parties in recent months.
“Just a good job to everybody,” Touville said. “Hopefully this is one of the last steps in preparation to get it open. We’re pretty much ready to go.”
In other business, the commissioners awarded asbestos removal bids that were tabled Sept. 3. Aster Oilfield Services received contracts for all groups with a total bid of $70,700. The county noted it retains the right to solicit separate bids for asbestos abatement and demolition or combine them into one package “as determined to be in the best interest of the county.”
Corder said a bid from H&H could not be determined, calling one structure “hot” and noting the company was not interested in abating it. H&H quoted only costs per dumpster per day and liner fees.
The commissioners also approved recommendations for demolition bids tabled Aug. 6:
— Kovarik, $12,450 for 90740 Jewett-Germano Road.
— Dig It Man, $5,000 for 90870 Jewett-Germano Road.
