Cadiz Christmas Parade draws large crowd and community spirit
Many floats were brightly decorated with lights, and plenty of candy was tossed to spectators
The 2025 Cadiz Christmas Parade held Saturday, Dec. 6, drew a healthy-sized crowd in manageable temperatures, a welcome change from last year’s bitter cold and harsh wind. Once again, many floats were brightly decorated with lights, and plenty of candy was tossed to spectators.
The parade began on Grant Street, led by Cadiz Police Chief Ryan McCann and Mayor R. Kevin Jones, followed by parade marshal Sandi Thompson. There were more than 40 participants, including American Legion Post 34, S&W Hair Studio and the Santa Paws, a New Athens 1987 International Cabover, Gables Care Center, Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Harrisville Methodist Church, “Carol of the Bells” Hopedale Church of Christ, Sunny Slope Nursing Home, Cadiz Pals, Harrison County Health Department, D&J Sales and Service, Harrison County Senior Center, Valley Logistics Company, Harrison County 4-H and WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital.
Also participating were Stumptown Steam Thrashers, Sally Buffalo Park, Poppe Trucking & Towing, Blackie’s Garage & Towing, Marathon Crude Fleet, Harrison County Royalty, Harrison County ODOT and H&R Block. Volunteer fire departments from Unionport, New Athens, Moorefield, Scio, Cadiz and Hopedale also took part.
Judges Owen Beetham, Matthew Puskarich and Harrison County Public Defender C. Adrian Pincola selected the annual award winners.
For Uptown business window displays, Vintage Fitness took first place, followed by Class Act Hair and Clark-Kirkland-Bar Funeral Home.
For Uptown storefronts, Cowgirl in Me placed first, followed by Ohio Valley Winery and the Harrison County Senior Center.
In the Judges’ Favorites category, Cadiz Vision Center won first place, followed by the Harrison County Health Department in second. H&R Block placed third and Knight Miller Law Office finished fourth.
The event received support from numerous sponsors. Parade sponsors were Woodsfield Bank and AEP. Parade marshal sponsors were Christopher’s Restaurant and the Harrison County Cancer Crusaders.
Main Stage sponsors included the Harrison County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Cadiz Country Club, Cody Ching DMD Inc., Abacus Business & Tax Service, Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home and D&J Sales and Service. Santa’s sponsors were NAPA and the Puskarich Library.
