It was a busy week for the Harrison Central Huskies bowling teams, with two of their three matches on the road, competing at Conotton Valley, at home in Jewett and later at St. Clair Lanes in St. Clairsville.

Valli Lanes in Jewett hosted the matchup between the Huskies and the East Liverpool Potters. Despite bowling on their home lanes, Harrison Central struggled.

The Harrison Central boys team was led by Colston Kirkpatrick with a score of 412. His brother, Cory Kirkpatrick, also contributed and would later lead the team against Conotton Valley. Other Huskies scorers included Owen Whitacre with 308, Aaden Arbaugh with 306, Aiden Pettit with 159, Cory Kirkpatrick with 159, Wyatt Durbin with 144 and LJ Mitchell with 136. East Liverpool earned the victory, 2,079-1,962.

The Lady Huskies battled closely but fell just short as the Potters edged out a 1,731-1,691 win. Tayla Thompson led Harrison Central with a score of 317. Other top scorers included senior Bralee Thomas with 296, Jaylie Byers with 287, Sophie Bland with 262, Mercedez Cooper with 143 and Kim Eckleberry with 119.

The Huskies next traveled to Rocket Center Lanes in Bowerston to face the Conotton Valley Rockets. The bowling center, which opened in 2022, serves as the home lanes for the Rockets.

Harrison Central again faced a tough challenge. The boys team was led by Cory Kirkpatrick with a 333, followed by Wyatt Durbin at 320. Colston Kirkpatrick added 300, Aaden Arbaugh scored 196, Owen Whitacre had 134 and LJ Mitchell finished with 127.

Conotton Valley’s boys team was paced by Drew Herron with 421, Brody Brown with 404 and Michael Lorello with 396.

The Huskies returned to action Thursday at St. Clair Lanes in St. Clairsville for an EOBL Baker match. The Lady Huskies finished in first place, while the boys team placed fourth.

The Harrison Central bowling teams will break for the holidays and return to competition Jan. 6 in New Athens at JR Lanes.
