Leadership program helps Lahna grow personally and professionally

Coshocton County attorney credits Leadership Coshocton with strengthening community ties and business skills

Corie Lahna

Corie Lahna is a Coshocton County native from Warsaw, and a 2001 graduate of River View High School. She continued her education at Ohio University in Athens, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in psychology. She later attended the University of Dayton School of Law, earning her Juris Doctor in 2007.

Following law school, Lahna began her legal career at a criminal defense firm serving Licking and Fairfield counties. After four years, she accepted a position with Chesapeake Energy in the oil and gas industry in Green. As part of her onboarding, she traveled to Oklahoma City for company training, an experience she found both engaging and valuable. Due to an economic downturn in the oil and gas sector, Chesapeake Energy experienced widespread layoffs, which led Lahna to transition to independent contractor work with Halo Land Management in Canton. In this role, she performed oil and gas title work, including reviewing title searches and drafting curative documents. The flexibility of this position allowed her to work remotely while raising young children.

In 2014, Lahna expanded her professional responsibilities by serving as a drug court attorney for the Coshocton County Juvenile Court. Through this role, she became familiar with Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices (CBHC) and was invited to join its board in 2024. Kelly Bratton joined the board at the same time, and upon learning of Lahna's title experience, discussed the formation of a title company. In September 2024, Dogwood Title, LLC was established, and Lahna began working full-time with both Bratton Law and Dogwood Title LLC.

At Bratton Law, Lahna's practice areas include estate planning, adoptions, guardianships, estate administration, business law, and real estate. At Dogwood Title, she prepares title commitments and issues title insurance policies.

In addition to serving on the CBHC Board, Lahna is a member of the Coshocton County Public Defender Commission, the American Association of Professional Landmen, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Coshocton County Bar Association.

Lahna was encouraged by Bratton to participate in Leadership Coshocton and spoke with several past participants before enrolling. She values the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Coshocton County businesses and organizations so she can better connect individuals with available community resources.

When asked about her perspective on the community, Lahna shared, “It is a wonderful place to live and doesn’t get the credit it deserves. I love working at Bratton Law and Dogwood Title. Coshocton is a great place to call home and work.”

She also noted the importance of recent developments led by the port authority, citing initiatives such as the Coshocton Collaborative and the local theater as positive examples. “There seems to be growth in local businesses, and people are increasingly supportive of shopping and investing locally,” she said.

Lahna enthusiastically recommends Leadership Coshocton to others, stating, “It’s important to learn more about Coshocton and what it has to offer. The program helps you learn more about yourself, identify areas for improvement, and develop leadership skills. I had never been in a supervisory role before, and the program has helped me grow as a business owner.”

Lahna is married to Chad Lahna, a teacher at Ridgewood High School. They have two daughters, Addie, 10, and Rigley, 7.
