Fast starts and strong individual performances highlight Tuesday night action across the area
Fast start fuels Coshocton past Claymont
Coshocton jumped out early and never trailed on its way to a 64–51 win over Claymont in boys basketball action Tuesday night, Jan. 20.
The Redskins set the tone in the opening quarter, racing to a 21–10 advantage, then carried a 34–19 lead into halftime. Claymont made a push in the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to eight points with two minutes remaining, but Coshocton stayed composed to seal the victory.
Three Redskins finished in double figures, led by Mason Williams with 19 points. JJ Herman added 15, while Kash Murphy chipped in 10.
Ridgewood pulls away after slow start
Ridgewood shook off a sluggish opening quarter and pulled away for a 46–25 road victory over Barnesville.
The Generals trailed 8–7 after the first eight minutes before taking control in the second quarter. Ridgewood outscored the Shamrocks 17–6 in the period, with Logan Ridenbaugh and Jackson Cabot each scoring five points to spark the run.
Ridenbaugh finished with a game-high 20 points to lead the Generals, while Cabot added 12.
Lafferty’s 20 points lift Newcomerstown past RVHS
Newcomerstown earned a 58–53 victory over River View at the Claymont Mid Season Shootout, led by a strong performance from senior Javyn Lafferty.
Lafferty scored a game-high 20 points to pace the Trojans as they held off the Black Bears in a tightly contested matchup.
Earlier this month, Lafferty scored his 1,000th career point.
With the victory, the Trojans improved to 7–8 on the season, while River View fell to 2–11.
Lady Redskins jump out early, top Tree of Life
Coshocton set the tone early and rolled to a 39–21 girls basketball victory on the road at Tree of Life on Tuesday night, Jan. 20.
The Lady Redskins stormed out to a 13–0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, controlling the game from start to finish.
Zoey Tumblin led the way with 16 points, while Lily Braxton added 11. Berta Perez and Akeela Estvanko each chipped in six points for Coshocton in the balanced scoring effort.
