Ag event celebrates disabilities awareness in Coshocton
Join the free event at Kids America March 27 for games, prizes and livestock show sign-ups
A special event is being planned to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and promote opportunities for individuals of all abilities to get involved in agriculture.
Wear your orange and come out to Kids America from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27 for games, activities, refreshments, prizes and information on how to participate in the Ag For All Abilities Livestock Show at the Coshocton County Fair.
Attendees can receive information and help with signing up for the show. This free event is sponsored by Community Fund Ohio.
Ag For All Abilities is an opportunity to experience showing animals at the fair, without the stress and expense. The program was started by Gail Gallwitz and Marybeth Slater. It partners youth exhibitors with youth mentors and an animal.
Slater operates Slater Family Farm Outreach and had received a grant for a project from Community Fund Ohio.
“They had a micro-grant, but it had to be used for an event in March to celebrate developmental disability awareness,” Slater said. “I told them we were really involved with Ag For All Abilities, and it gives kids opportunities and helps bridge gaps by bringing everybody together.”
She encourages everyone to come join the fun March 27 and learn more about Ag For All Abilities.
“We want to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and thought this would be a good way to do that, sign people up for Ag For All Abilities and meet everybody,” Slater said.
