As we continue to reflect on the ways God has blessed us, we are reminded that our response should go beyond gratitude for the material and social blessings we enjoy. While we are thankful for daily provision, civic freedoms, and the love of family and friends, the greatest blessing of all comes through faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches that eternal life is found in Jesus, and the Good News — the Gospel — is that He offers that life to all who believe He is the Savior. “Full of truth and grace,” as we begin to trust and follow Him, His truth reshapes our lives and frees us from selfishness. He calls us to live as He did — bringing goodness to others, both spiritually and materially.
The Gospel message of peace is carried by those who have received and believed it, living it out in their daily lives and sometimes traveling to share it with others. Scripture says, “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of them that bring the Gospel of peace” (Isaiah 52:7). The Apostle Paul also urges believers to wear “the preparation of the Gospel of peace” (Ephesians 6:15).
Those who share the Gospel must do so not merely by seeking “decisions for Christ,” but by expressing the authenticity of divine love — caring for the whole person and sharing their resources and compassion in the spirit of Jesus, who showed deep care for the oppressed.
For believers, to neglect this calling is like walking barefoot. While it might feel comfortable to go barefoot at home, most of us put on shoes before we step outside. Likewise, Christians are called to “put on their Gospel shoes” before going out into the world.

An old Sunday School song captures this truth:

Do you know, O Christian, you’re a sermon in shoes?
Jesus counts upon you to spread the Gospel news.
So walk it, and talk it, and preach it, and live it —
A sermon in shoes.
If we are Christian believers, let’s not go barefoot.
