The Carrollton Rotary Club will host the fourth annual Veterans 5K Run/Walk and children’s fun run Nov. 8 at the Carroll County Fairgrounds Ashton Event Center. Trinity Health System will offer its multiphasic blood analysis program from 7-10 a.m. at the same location.

Same-day race registration opens at 8 a.m. The one-mile walk and kids run begins at 8:45 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9 a.m.

The blood analysis provides a low-cost wellness screening. The $50 panel includes a lipid panel for heart disease risk, a complete blood count, and a comprehensive metabolic panel that evaluates kidney, liver and blood sugar levels, plus a TSH thyroid screen. Optional tests include a prostate screening for $20, vitamin D for $20 and HbA1c for $15. The clinic is walk-in.

Local businesses are invited to sponsor the event. Contributions of $100 or more will be recognized on the back of the official race T-shirt. Proceeds support Rotary’s community initiatives in literacy, education, youth leadership and health and wellness.

Annual projects backed by the Carrollton Rotary Club include Carrollton Schools’ Reading Is Fundamental, reading programs at the Carroll County District Library, two $1,000 scholarships for Carrollton High School seniors, local health and wellness education, Loaves and Fishes outreach and Willow House, part of Hope Bridge, which supports kinship caregivers and children.
