The Carroll County Veteran’s Club filled its leadership roles for the year following its annual meeting Jan. 10.
Newly elected board member Andy Lewis will serve as liaison, and re-elected board member Jeff Keyser will continue as vice president. They join President Ron Snair and Secretary Dave Lange. Former liaison Randy Jones was named treasurer, succeeding Tim Cordray, who stepped down after years of service.
Lange said service has remained central to the independent organization since it was founded by local military veterans following World War II.
“Those veterans didn’t just build a clubhouse for their personal enjoyment,” Lange said. “They dedicated the Vets Club grounds on Brenner Road to the wider community with such features as a playground, ballfield and even a swimming pool.”
While the club was founded by veterans, Lange said most members today are not veterans.
“Many of them have parents, grandparents and other relatives who served in the military,” Lange said. “They share in their love of our country and the camaraderie of our community. New members are always welcome.”
The club hosts community events including Halloween trunk-or-treat and a Santa Claus visit at Christmastime, along with a Memorial Day breakfast and Veterans Day dinner. The club’s ballfield hosts local games. The organization supports local sports teams and makes donations to events and causes including Pullin’ for a Cause, the Junior Fair Cowboy/Cowgirl Contest, Independence Day fireworks at the Carroll County Fairgrounds and Wreaths Across America.
A major project completed in 2025 was a new beer garden behind the clubhouse, including an outdoor performance stage. The club announced a Saturday-night band schedule that includes Generations Feb. 14, Rust N Ruin March 14, Bionic Bird April 11, Kindred Roots May 16 and Cory Hager June 13.
An Honor Wall is also being completed under the leadership of members Roger and Carol Kiko. The wall will feature gold, bronze and silver plaques recognizing individuals and establishments in the community.
The club also offers Friday evening dinners and karaoke events.
