The host Wooster gymnastics team continued its strong season by winning the Northeast Gymnastics Conference Meet with 138.9 points at the YMCA Gymnastics Center Feb. 11.

The Generals scored the second-most points in school history en route to winning a league meet that also included teams from Wadsworth (118.675 points), Triway, Perry, Cloverleaf, McKinley, Massillon, Hillsdale and Sandy Valley.

Wooster girls took four of the top six spots in the all-around.

Freshman McKinnley Hackett was the NEGC champion with 36.35 points, followed by junior Kassidy Kartisek (fourth, 34.75), senior Danielle Hendrix (fifth, 34.625) and senior Amarah Painter (sixth, 32.775).

“We are a true team,” Wooster coach Megan Hackett said. “On any given night, any one of my girls can win any event.

“As you can see in the all-around, out of six spots, Wooster had four of them. They have been working extremely hard in the gym. Our motto this year has been ‘Better Than Yesterday,’ and they are living by this.”

In individual events Hackett won the vault (9.475), bars (9.075) and floor (9.0) while taking third on the beam (8.8).

Kartisek was second on floor (8.925), third on bars (8.4) and fourth on vault (8.925).

Hendrix placed second on beam (9.25) and fourth on bars (8.35) and floor (8.65).

“Our captains Danielle and Amarah have done an amazing job leading these girls,” coach Hackett said. “It has been an extremely fun year, but it is not over yet.”

Wooster will compete Feb. 28 at a Division I district meet at Hudson, where the Generals will vie for a trip to the state meet.
