Wooster Emblem Club hosts police dog demo
Zorro, Wooster's police dog, showcased narcotics detection at a recent club meeting
Members of Wooster Emblem Club #374 heard a presentation from Wooster police dog Zorro and his handler Sereika during a recent meeting. Capt. Hall also was present and explained the importance of having a police dog on the Wooster police force. Members were shown how Zorro identifies narcotics and his reward for working: a piece of PVC pipe.
After the demonstration, the club was opened by President Paulette Douglas according to ritual.
Correspondence received included dues notifications from both the Supreme Emblem Club and the Ohio State Association. The call to the 99th Supreme Convention in Providence, Rhode Island also was shared.
Committee reports included Americanism sharing Thanksgiving and Christmas meals given to three veteran families. Wreaths Across America Day placed five wreaths at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery and five other wreaths at other cemeteries for spouses. A flag was given to St. Genevieve Cemetery in Fredericksburg. A flag also was given to Viola Startzman Clinic.
The contest at Wayne County Library for Presidents Day was explained. The ways and means committee announced the last two fundraisers for the year: a card party and a Swiss steak dinner.
New business included the purchase of flags for downtown Wooster, payment of both Supreme and State dues, and donations to both Supreme and State scholarship programs.
Upcoming activities include Supreme President Doris MacDonald and Supreme Marshal Marie Harvey visiting Ohio and being in Wooster April 1.
The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. March 24.
