Wooster City Schools partners with Neighborhood Bridges to connect families with community support
New kindness initiative enables residents to meet student needs directly through anonymous online requests
Dear Wooster community,
This month, we’re celebrating Wooster’s spirit of generosity and connection as we launch a new partnership with Neighborhood Bridges, a nonprofit organization helping communities provide direct, personal support to students and families.
Often, school counselors, social workers, teachers and staff are the first to notice when a student or family could use a helping hand, whether it’s school supplies, a warm coat or shoes that fit. Now, through Neighborhood Bridges, the district can post these needs anonymously, allowing community members to respond directly to offer help. Subscribers receive email alerts or social media updates when a new need arises, making it easy to make a meaningful difference for someone right here in Wooster.
This program is all about kindness in action. Whether it’s donating clothing or household items or helping cover a school fee, every act reminds our students that their community cares deeply about them. To get involved, you can visit Wooster’s page on the Neighborhood Bridges website or follow Neighborhood Bridges Wooster’s Facebook or Instagram to view current needs.
I would like to thank our Neighborhood Bridges area coordinators, Joe and Gina Morbitzer, and our Neighborhood Bridges steering committee for bringing this opportunity for kindness to life.
Neighborhood Bridges aligns with our district’s commitment to One Million Acts of Kindness, another initiative rooted in compassion and community. We’re shining a light on all the ways our students, staff, volunteers and community members go out of their way to help one another. If you’ve witnessed or benefited from an act of kindness, please share it using our district’s Google Form so we can celebrate the good that surrounds us.
I’m so proud to see Wooster leading with heart, lifting one another up and showing what “General’s Excellence” truly looks like in action.
