Tight margin triggers recount in Dalton school board election
Wayne County Board of Elections to hand-count ballots Dec. 1 after race for final Dalton school board seat falls within recount threshold
The Wayne County Board of Elections will hold a recount for the Dalton Local School District Board of Education race, which appeared on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
“The board has ordered an automatic recount of the race for the final position for the Dalton LSD Board of Education because the margin between the two candidates is less than one-half of 1%," said Julie Stahl, director.
The recount will take place Monday, Dec. 1 at 8:30 a.m. at the Board of Elections, 200 Vanover St., Wooster. The recount will entail hand-counting ballots from a full precinct in the school district in bipartisan teams at a public board meeting. Once the recount is complete, the board will confirm or recertify the contest results. The board will conduct a post-election audit immediately following the recount.
