Orrville library launches spring reading challenge

Students in grades 5-8 can earn prizes by reading 300 minutes by May 31

Orrville Public Library will host several upcoming programs including the Brain Freeze reading challenge for grades 5-8, a Mystery Monday discussion, a Local Author Festival, teen 3D printing sessions and a Teen Book Box program.

Students in grades 5-8 are invited to sign up for Orrville Public Library’s spring Brain Freeze Challenge. The challenge runs through May 31. Read for just 20 minutes a day, for a total of 300 minutes, to earn a treat coupon or small prize. The library is grateful to its Brain Freeze sponsors: McDonald’s, Dairy Queen, Orr Valley Creamery, Taco Bell and Orrville & Chill.

Participants can pick up a log sheet at the Information Desk to keep track of how many minutes of reading they complete, then return the sheet when they complete their minutes of reading and draw for a prize. All spring entries will be eligible for a grand prize.

The library also will continue its Mystery Monday series at 6 p.m. March 16. Participants will discuss “Burned,” the Paper Ghosts Season 2 podcast, and will possibly have a guest speaker. No registration is needed.
