Northwestern Ruritan pancake day to benefit local fire departments
Annual event in West Salem to support local fire departments on March 14.
The 57th annual Northwestern Ruritan Pancake and Sausage Day and inaugural Community Benefit Live Auction will be held March 14 at Northwestern High School, featuring an all-you-can-eat breakfast and a noon auction benefiting the New Pittsburg and Town & Country fire departments, with proceeds supporting community projects.

The 57th annual Northwestern Ruritan Pancake and Sausage Day and inaugural Community Benefit Live Auction, known as the Northwestern Community Spring Homecoming, will be held Saturday, March 14 at Northwestern High School, 7473 N. Elyria Road (state Route 301), West Salem. The school is located 1 mile north of Lattasburg and 6 miles south of West Salem.
Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The all-you-can-eat menu includes pancakes, pure Gortner’s maple syrup, whole hog sausage, applesauce, milk and coffee.
Meals are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens age 65 and older, $6 for children age 6-10, and free for children younger than 6.
Pure Gortner’s maple syrup and whole hog sausage, both prefrozen and fresh, will be available for purchase to take home.
At noon the club will host the Northwestern Community Benefit Live Auction in the Northwestern High School auditorium. This year’s beneficiaries are the New Pittsburg Fire Department and the Town & Country Fire District.
Auctioneers Kaleb Badger, Jacoby Gilbert and Kade Tegtmeier, all Northwestern High School graduates, are donating their time and talent. Numerous items and services have been donated by local businesses and individuals.
All proceeds from the event will support Northwestern community projects.
