The Wayne County Health Department will host a drive-thru pop-up food pantry April 14 in Wooster to provide food assistance to income-eligible individuals and families.

The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop-up food pantry from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 14 in the parking lot of the WCHD’s offices, 244 W. South St., Wooster. This pantry will be drive-thru.

“Our monthly pop-up pantry served over 130 families in March,” said Nicholas Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner. “We are very thankful for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and our volunteers who come month after month to help. Without either, we would not be able to do these pop-up pantries monthly.”

Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($31,920 per year for individuals and adding $11,360 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $66,000 or less would be eligible.

The health department asks anyone attending the food pantry to receive food enter through the alley off Walnut Street, as it’s a one-way alley running east to west. Do not block the United Way or the Wayne Center for the Arts entrances.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the pop-up pantry can call the Wayne County Health Department at 330-264-9590.
