Medina County Job and Family Services will host a foster care information event April 7 at The Grind Coffee Bar in downtown Medina.

The event, called “Coffee & Conversation,” will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. at the café, located at 124 N. Court St., and is designed to give community members a chance to learn about foster parenting in an informal setting.

Layne Hedden, foster care recruiter for Medina County JFS, said the event will provide a welcoming environment for people who may be curious about foster care but are unsure where to start.

“We will provide some basic info, hear from a panel of foster parents, and have plenty of time for conversation and Q&A,” Hedden said.

The evening will begin with a meet-and-greet at 6:30 p.m., when attendees can purchase coffee and connect with others. An informational session will follow at 7 p.m. covering the basics of foster care, requirements and next steps.

At 7:15 p.m., a panel of current foster parents will share their experiences, followed by a question-and-answer session beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Hedden said the event is meant to be approachable for anyone interested in learning more.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in learning more in a relaxed, no-pressure environment,” Hedden said.

Registration is not required, though attendees may register in advance. For more information, call or text Hedden at 330-667-0167.
