The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities is offering a scholarship opportunity for Medina County high school students.

The scholarship was created to recognize and support students who are considering careers serving individuals with developmental disabilities. The field faces a growing workforce shortage, with ongoing challenges in recruiting trained professionals for positions ranging from administrators and therapists to educators and direct care workers.

The Medina County Board of DD hopes the scholarship will encourage students to pursue careers in public service and help improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities Donor Scholarship will award one $1,500 scholarship this year.

Applicants must be current Medina County high school seniors who have been accepted into an accredited program in a field that may provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities, such as special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work or behavioral sciences.

Students must also demonstrate involvement in or service to individuals with developmental disabilities through activities such as Special Olympics, classroom activities, volunteering or job shadowing.

Interested students must complete and submit a Medina County Board of DD Donor Scholarship application by March 31 to be considered.

Applications are available by calling 330-725-7751, ext. 273, or by visiting mcbdd.org.
