Medina High School seniors Margo Crandall and Brady Ryba have been named Kiwanis January Students of the Month.

Crandall is described as a kind, approachable and respectful student whose integrity and consistency are evident in both her character and actions. She is welcoming and confident, earning the respect of peers and adults alike. When faced with challenges, she thoughtfully uses her strengths to overcome obstacles and is highly motivated to be the best student, athlete and person she can be.

Her academic schedule has included Advanced Placement, honors and College Credit Plus courses. She earned the Medina High School Academic Distinction Award, summa cum laude, during her freshman, sophomore and junior years. Crandall is a member of the National Honor Society, HUDDLE and Key Club. She has played competitive soccer for Internationals Soccer Club ECNL as a defender for the past four years and is a co-founder of G.I.V.E., an organization that provides social media support to nonprofit organizations.

Outside of school, Crandall has worked as a dietary aide at Western Reserve Hospital and has volunteered at Medina Hospital as a runner. She also served as a Medina Recreation League soccer coach. After graduation, she plans to attend Lehigh University to study either pre-medicine or engineering while continuing her soccer career with the Lehigh University women’s soccer team. She is the daughter of Dave and Tracy Crandall.

Ryba is recognized as a passionate and hardworking student who demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. He consistently shows positivity, empathy and a willingness to help others, creating a supportive environment for those around him. He approaches each responsibility with dedication and is regarded as a respected leader and dependable teammate.

Ryba has completed a rigorous academic schedule that includes Advanced Placement courses and earned the Medina High School Academic Distinction Award, summa cum laude, during his freshman, sophomore and junior years. He serves as president of the Medina High School National Honor Society and is a member of HUDDLE. A two-year captain of the Medina High School swim team, Ryba is seeking his third trip to the state swim meet this year.

He works at Abercrombie & Fitch and spends summers as a lifeguard and swim instructor at Blue Heron. Ryba also volunteers as a peer tutor in the Joyce B. Ebner Tutoring Center, assisting students with Spanish. He plans to attend The Ohio State University to study health sciences/pre-medicine. He is the son of Cameron and Kelly Ryba.
