Barbershop choruses unite to honor veterans with free concert
Akron Derbytown Chorus and Akron Harmony Project to perform Nov. 8 at Community Vineyard Church; donations to support Summit County Veterans Fund
The Akron Derbytown Chorus and the Akron Harmony Project will join voices to honor those who served with a Veterans Benefit Concert set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Community Vineyard Church, 2543 State Road.
Admission is free, and donations will benefit the Summit County Veterans Donations Fund, which helps veterans with immediate needs.
The concert, now in its sixth year, is hosted by the Akron Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, whose members hail from Summit and Medina counties. This year marks the first time both of the chapter’s ensembles — the all-male Akron Derbytown Chorus and the all-voice Akron Harmony Project — will share the stage for the event.
“Over the past five years, our chapter has donated more than $10,000 to the Veterans Donation Fund,” said LeAnn Snyder, vice president of music and performance for the Akron Chapter. “We hope to continue growing that support and honoring our local veterans through music.”
In addition to the concert, the group will perform with the Salvation Army on Dec. 6, singing carols at local Acme stores as part of the Red Kettle campaign.
