United Way of Knox County invites community members to take part in Day of Caring 2025.
This annual event brings together individuals, families, and workplace teams to make a lasting impact through volunteer projects taking place across the county. It will be held Friday, Sept. 12, from noon to 4 p.m. with a kickoff lunch and project assignments at the Park Pavilion at Ariel-Foundation Park.
Volunteers will begin the afternoon with lunch and project details at Ariel Foundation Park. From there, participants will head to assigned worksites with instructions, directions, and tools provided.
“Day of Caring is one of my favorite days to come to work. It brings joy to my heart to see people from all over the county come together to serve the local agencies who do so much for our community. Last year, we got to paint, clean, landscape, and build. Every worksite I visited was full of excited workers giving back. I can't wait for this year's event,” said United Way of Knox County’s executive director, Katie Ellis.
Some of this year’s projects include:
• Home construction and ReStore cleanup with Habitat for Humanity.
• Walking dogs and washing dog bowls at the Knox County Dog Shelter.
• Mailing at Behavioral Health Partners.
• Yard work and outdoor projects with partners such as Knox County Head Start, The Freedom Center, and The Winter Sanctuary.
Day of Caring is open to volunteers of all ages and abilities. Whether you join as an individual or with a team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of neighbors and strengthen the Knox County community.
Morgan Meleca, who volunteered at last year's Day of Caring said of her experience, “Volunteering with United Way is a simple way to do good and see the impact right where you live.”
