Mount Vernon Nazarene University will host A Night with Nashville: Benefiting Cougar Baseball with the Hits on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. in Thorne Performance Hall of the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Center. The special Homecoming & Family Weekend event features Grammy-nominated songwriters Brian White ’79, Karyn Williams, and Jesse Reeves — the creative minds behind chart-topping hits for some of music’s biggest names.
The trio represents an impressive collective catalog of hits across Christian and country music, having penned songs for Chris Tomlin, Danny Gokey, Consumed by Fire, Cory Asbury, Matt Maher, Rodney Atkins, Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins and more. Audiences will experience an intimate evening of music and storytelling as the writers perform their hits and share the stories behind the songs that have topped the charts.
Tickets for concert are $30, with proceeds supporting MVNU’s On Deck Campaign for Cougar Baseball.
As a special lead-in to the evening, White will present So You Wanna Be A Songwriter: Helpful Hints to Kickstart Your Songwriting Journey Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2:30 p.m. in Thorne Performance Hall. This free workshop offers aspiring songwriters the opportunity to learn from White’s celebrated career, which includes more than 400 recorded cuts, 16 No. 1 hits, two Dove Awards, SESAC Song of the Year, and nominations from the ACM, CMA, and Grammys.
Both events are open to the public. Tickets are available at mvnu.edu/on-deck.
