MVNU Choral Union to present 57th annual Messiah Nov. 23
University choirs, alumni, community members and orchestra unite for holiday tradition at R.R. Hodges Chapel
Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Choral Union is beginning preparation for its 57th presentation of Handel’s "Messiah." The performance will be on Sunday, Nov. 23, in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium. Though traditionally performed in early December, this year’s performance will lead into a time of Thanksgiving and is considered a kickoff to the Christmas season.
Year after year, attendees experience the incredible sound of the university’s combined choirs, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, soloists, and chamber orchestra.
“One of the many highlights is when, mid-way through the Hallelujah Chorus, I turn to conduct the audience, and experience this unforgettable expression of worship of our King of Kings and Lord of Lords,” reflects Dr. Robert Tocheff, who will be conducting the time-honored tradition for the 35th year.
Tickets, $10 each, can be purchased at: https://www.mvnu.edu/music.
Rehearsals for Handel’s "Messiah" will take place on Wednesdays beginning Sept. 24, from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m., in Nease Rehearsal Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel and Fine Arts Building. If you are a community member that wishes to sing in the performance, contact Dr. Tocheff (bob.tocheff@mvnu.edu) about an audition or a recommendation.
