Mount Vernon FFA shines at county job interview contest
Students practiced résumé writing and interview skills, earning top-three finishes across multiple divisions and gaining valuable experience in professional communication.
Members of the Mount Vernon FFA Chapter participated in the Knox County FFA Job Interview Contest held at Mount Vernon High School on Oct. 15. The contest provided students with a valuable opportunity to develop and demonstrate professional employability skills.
Participants prepared a résumé and cover letter prior to the event. Upon arrival, they completed a job application for a position of interest, participated in a mock interview with qualified judges, and concluded the contest by writing a follow-up letter. Judges included representatives from Trillium Farms, the Knox County Farm Bureau, and Advantage Ag.
Representing Mount Vernon FFA were Charlie Banks, who assisted with contest operations; Connor Thomas, who placed third in Division 1; Lily Burchard, who placed third in Division 2; and Alana Hightower, who placed second in Division 3.
The Job Interview Career Development Event helps students practice real-world skills such as communication, professionalism, and confidence — skills that are valuable for future careers in and beyond agriculture.
