Knox County bowlers advance to district competition
Freddie girls, several individuals move on from sectionals

One area team and several individuals advanced to the Division
II district bowling competition.
Fredericktown’s girls’ team advanced after finishing sixth
overall at the sectional tournament, held Feb. 13 at HP Lanes in Columbus. The
Freddies shot a score of 2,544 as a team to move on. East Knox finished just
out of the qualifying, placing 14th at 2,429 and Centerburg was 18th
with a 2,371. The top 12 teams and individuals advanced to district competition
on Feb. 17.

The Freddies were led by Kota Curtis, who shot games of 155-118-177
for a 450 series and finished ninth overall. Maddie Bartlett fired a 414 series
(129-155-130), while Holly Hogle shot 355 (118-100-137).
East Knox’s Madison Huffman and Centerburg’s Azala Compton
also qualified for districts as individuals. Huffman fired a 402 series (100-162-140)
to move on while Compton had a 388 series (118-125-145).
EK also got a 361 series from Olivia Huffman, a 352 from
Lillian Scott and 326 from Hayden Wright.
The Trojans also had a 360 from Jaelyn Caldwell, a 331 from
Lynn Moody and a 305 from Ryleigh Stephens.
There were three boys who qualified for district as
individuals.
Centerburg sent two bowlers on — Michael Wallace and Luke
Pack — while East Knox’s Blake Calhoon also qualified.

Wallace finished as the second-best bowler at sectionals,
firing off an incredible 674 series (202-203-269). Pack moved on with a 525
series (182-174-169), while Calhoon shot 556 (132-199-225) to qualify.
The Bulldogs were the top area team, finishing 15th
with a score of 3,193. Centerburg was 19th at 2,973 and
Fredericktown shot 2,805 to finish 23rd.
Aiden Stapleton added a 447 series (128-173-146) for the
Bulldogs.
Centerburg’s Julian Lincoln shot a 431 series (143-139-149).
Fredericktown was led by Jordan Moore, who shot 165-163-129
for a 457 series. Jaxon Kempton shot 425 (159-136-130) and Wyatt Payne 415
(132-135-148).
District competition is Feb. 17 at HP Lanes at 11 a.m.
