Knox Community Hospital’s Center for Wound Healing earns national excellence award
Facility ranks in top 10% of Healogics network for healing outcomes, patient satisfaction and quality care
Physicians, leaders, and clinicians at Knox Community Hospital announce that The Center for Wound Healing has been awarded the prestigious Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Clinical Excellence Award by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. This Center has scored in the top 10 percent of eligible Healogics Wound Care Centers on the Clinical Excellence measure, which is the comprehensive healing rate weighted by wound mix. This award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former Chief Medical Officer for Healogics.
The Center for Wound Healing is a member of the Healogics network of over 600 Wound Care Centers and offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds.
Our experts provide advanced wound care modalities, including negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies. The Center for Wound Healing also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which surrounds the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help accelerate wound healing.
“Being the only wound care center in the county means we serve a critical role,” said Vicki Kildoo, director of the Center for Wound Healing at KCH. “The quality care we provide to patients benefits the entire community; when wounds are healed, our patients can resume their daily activities and enjoy productive lives again.”
To receive this award, they have to excel in patient satisfaction at 92% or higher, have a comprehensive healing rate of 77% or above, and have an outlier rate of 16% or less.
