Mabel Leid gave a program from The Bargain Hunter titled “Craving late-night snacks? Here’s what your body’s telling you.” Many times people eat at night because they are thirsty or they haven’t eaten enough calories that day. Begin by drinking 8 ounces of water and eating a low-calorie snack. Examples include a small handful of low-salt nuts or a bowl of low-sugar cereal with low-fat milk. Nuts offer melatonin, protein and magnesium. Milk contains the amino acid tryptophan, which produces serotonin that is converted into melatonin, inducing sleep.
The club meets at the Nashville Global Methodist Church Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., with weigh-in at 5 p.m. The first meeting is free.
