TOPS members learn about impact of genetics

On July 23, TOPS OH1573 Nashville opened with pledges.

Leo Tope was the best weekly loser. He said drink plenty of water, use small plates and watch your calories.

Lana Rush was the best weekly KOPS.

Bonnie Porter gave a program from “Harvard Health Publishing,” using an article titled “Gaining Weight,” which discussed how it all depends on how many calories are consumed and burned. It also discussed what causes obesity. The greatest cause of obesity is genetics. How our bodies store or burn fat cells determines how easy or hard it is to lose weight. That condition is inherited from our ancestors who survived famines.

The club meets at the Nashville Global Methodist Church on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., with weigh-in at 5 p.m. The first meeting is free.
