The Tuscarawas County Board of Elections announced Deputy Director Brian Swartzwelder has completed the requisite number of courses required to receive Ohio Registered Election Official Certification. Swartzwelder received his certificate at the recent Ohio Association of Election Officials Conference in Columbus.

The Ohio Association of Election Officials said it is important for all Ohio election officials to receive continuing education.

In partnership with the Ohio State University, the Registered Election Official program for Ohio election officials was developed. There are a series of courses offered, and to complete certification, each participant must complete five courses and then continue to enroll in one graduate course every three years. The courses have both an academic and practical focus.
