Sugarcreek Council holds first reading on Skyline Meadows annexation
Sugarcreek Council held the first reading of a resolution adopting a statement of services to be provided for land proposed for annexation into the village at the July 7 meeting. The petition for Skyline Meadows School was filed with the Tuscarawas County Commissioners.
This resolution will take effect and be in force at the earliest period allowed by law. The Tuscarawas County Court will finalize the paperwork.
The land to be annexed borders Mike’s Lane on the west side and Skyline Drive on the south side. Skyline Drive is maintained by the village; however, the village will not maintain Mike’s Lane. Water and sewer services and fire and police protection will become effective once the land is annexed.
Village Administrator Kevin Kaser informed council that Holly Hutchison was hired as the utility clerk, effective July 14. Jan Dodge will train her, and Dodge will retire effective Dec. 1. Mayor Walt Wilson and Kaser approved the appointment of Hutchison.
“We had nine applications,” Kaser said.
