Concerns raised over potential data centers in Harrison County
Millersburg council updates pickleball courts, traffic lights
Village officials discussed park lighting, smart signal installations, website updates and housing study progress during the Dec. 22 meeting
Millersburg Village Council met Monday, Dec. 22 and discussed the following:
—The lights are ordered for the pickleball/basketball courts at Airport Park. Installation will be after the weather breaks in 2026.
—A list of stakeholders was identified for the housing study and sent to Envision, which will reach out to people in the coming weeks to start the data-collection process.
—The village met with Signal Service and Pathmaster reps in the last two weeks. They will be in contact with the village to determine installation dates for the smart traffic lights.
—The village is waiting on fiber installation to upgrade its phone system.
—The EPA generator grant application was completed and submitted. The village will provide an update when one is available.
—Village Administrator Nate Troyer found previous research about the alley off Wise/Forlow streets. The alley was previously vacated in 1938, according to a deed he found. However, the alley was not split between the two adjoining parcels as is common practice now. There is a reference to an ordinance from 1938 that the village hasn't located yet to see if it notes ownership of the alley. The village's solicitor will be consulted on this matter to move it forward.
—The village is working on updating its website to include instructions for the new water bill system, tax forms and any information on bed tax.
—Mayor Kelly Hoffee read two proclamations honoring outgoing council members Devone Polen and Brad Conn, thanking them for their service to the Village of Millersburg and its citizens.
