W.E. Quicksall commitment remains amid new partnership
Engineering firm joins Spicer Group while continuing longtime service and projects in Holmes County
Bob Quicksall, left, and Nathan Quicksall met with the Holmes County Commissioners Monday, Dec. 22 to share the news that while they are merging with Spicer Group from Michigan, their commitment to serving Holmes County and the relationships they've built over decades will remain as loyal as ever.

A longtime friend and
partner of Holmes County may be changing names, but that doesn’t mean the
company will change anything else when it comes to providing quality
service to the county.
W.E. Quicksall
& Associates, a company that has done many Holmes County projects from
water and sewer projects to sidewalks and more over the past several decades,
will join forces with Spicer Group Inc., an employee-owned engineering
and surveying firm based out of Michigan.
On Monday, Dec. 22, Nathan Quicksall, vice president and director of business development, and his
father Don Quicksall, regional manager, stopped by the Holmes County Commissioners
Office to discuss the move and notify the commissioners that although the
name may be changing, the quality services and relationships that have been
cultivated over the years will continue on.
Bob Quicksall said
this was good news for everyone involved because it will allow Quicksall to
continue to serve Holmes County and the surrounding counties with the same team
and same commitment to quality it has continually offered while delivering access to additional resources and technical expertise through
Spicer’s professionals.
“It’s a good fit
for us,” Bob Quicksall said. “They’re a good firm. We’ve been talking with them
for about 10 months. They really bolster our abilities.”
“They complement a
lot of the services we provide,” Nathan Quicksall said. “They are one of the
largest surveying outfits in the Midwest. It’s not only going to help us with
our bandwidth to take on more work, but also to help us to try to bring more
talent into the company.”
He said there are approximately
100 professional surveyors associated with Spicer Group, and they do municipal
design, roadway design, and a lot of water and wastewater modeling.
Nathan Quicksall said
the two firms are currently going through a transitional time as Quicksall
meshes with the Spicer Group, and they hope to continue to convey to all their
partners that they will remain committed to everything Quicksall has been about
for many years.
“Nothing changes,”
Nathan Quicksall said. “We’ll continue to provide our regular services in a different
name.”
Quicksall is
currently working with Holmes County Planning Commissioner Arnie Oliver on the
large Historic Downtown Millersburg sidewalk project, and the company has been
instrumental in many projects that have improved Holmes County.
The Quicksalls
said that project remains on time and is going well in the developmental
stages.
Bob Quicksall said
the Spicer Group will now become the contracting entity with the Holmes County Commissioners
moving forward, but the Quicksall project managers and engineers the
commissioners already know and trust will remain the county’s primary
contacts, thus ensuring no interruptions on the sidewalk project will
hamper progress.
They also let it be
known that all current contracts with the county will remain in place during
the transition.
Both the Quicksall
family and the Holmes County Commissioners agreed the relationship that has
been built over the years between the two groups is one of mutual respect, and
both sides said they have thoroughly enjoyed partnering with one another.
“We’ve done so
many various projects for (Holmes County) over the years, and we’re excited
about this opportunity moving forward as we continue this relationship,” Bob Quicksall
said.
“It’s been three
or four decades of building trust, and it’s been a great relationship,” Commissioner Dave Hall said.
W.E. Quicksall is
a family business of four generations of Quicksalls that began with Bob
Quicksall’s father and grandfather.
