Dover Public Library’s Prattle and Purl invites patrons to join their crafting circle the first and third Saturday each month at 10 a.m. at the Dover Public Library. Registration is not required, and all ages and skill levels are welcome.
Prattle and Purl partakes in all manner of handicrafts. Some members crochet while others are award-winning knitters. Members also have been known to make jewelry, color, cross stitch and more. Bring current crafts to the circle and have a seat.
While not required for participation in the crafting circle meetings, some members of Prattle and Purl also donate their time and talents to various community service projects.
In 2024 crafters from Prattle & Purl made 100 hats for a Hat Tree set up in Dover Public Library to offer free hats to the public over the winter. Members also participate in Warm Up America, which gives handmade blankets and other items to those in need. Other members donate their projects to hospitals, shelters and more.
“Prattle and Purl is such a supportive group,” founding member Liz Strauss said. “We help each other with projects and share inspiration, but we also talk and swap stories.”
“Plus, we always love to meet new people,” said Joyce Volzer, another leader of the group. “This group is wonderful, and I always look forward to seeing what everyone is working on. Sometimes, I do more talking than crocheting, but it’s fun.”
Dover Public Library is located at 525 N. Walnut St. in Dover. Call or email teen services manager Liz Strauss at 330-343-6123 or strausel@doverlibrary.org.
