Participants sought for annual photography competition
Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts will receive entries for its annual Focus Point Photo Contest on Friday, Jan. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center, 461 Robinson Drive, New Philadelphia. If early entry is necessary, participants may drop off photos Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 31 through Jan. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Judging will take place Saturday, Jan. 4, and photos chosen by the judges will be on display at the TCCA until the Saturday, Feb. 22 closing reception when awards will be presented. Each entry requires a cash-only $5 fee per photo.
The contest will accept photos in five categories: Landscape/Cityscape; Animal/Insect/Nature; People; Reflections, a new category in which entrants may interpret as they see fit; and Open, which includes any subject that does not fit into one of the above categories and may include photos manipulated beyond the norm.
Ribbons will be awarded in all categories for Best in Show; first, second and third place; and honorable mention. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded for Best in Show and first and second place in each category.
Photos must adhere to the following rules:
—Entries must be photographs (no mixed media).
—Limit of five photos per category per photographer.
—No photos entered in former shows.
—Have a minimum print size of 8-by-10 inches with no maximum size.
—May be framed, matted and framed, matted only, or mounted on matte board or foam core with no sawtooth hangers.
