Loudonville Public Library offers March activities

Programs for all ages include crafts, book clubs and cooking challenges throughout the month.

The Loudonville Public Library has events and programs scheduled for March.

The Friends of the Library will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, March 2. This month’s feature is “Friends Behind the Scenes: The Journey of Donated Books and Materials.” Refreshments will be provided.

Book Club To-Go will begin Monday, March 2 and feature “Where the Lost Wander” by Amy Harmon. Participants can pick up a monthly kit that includes the book, discussion questions and a related activity to complete on their own schedule. Supplies are available while they last.

The Teen Take-Home Cooking Challenge also will begin Monday, March 2 with Peanut Butter Cheerio Bars. Teens in sixth grade through 12th grade can stop by the youth desk to pick up a recipe kit each month. Kits are available on a first come, first served basis.

Pinterest Power: Sharpie Stained Glass will be offered at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 4. Participants can explore creative craft ideas inspired by Pinterest. Registration is required, and each session is limited to 12 participants.

Storytime will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Designed for children age 2-5, the interactive program includes stories, songs, fingerplays and crafts. Caregivers must be present, and younger siblings are welcome.

The Community Chess Club will meet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5. Players of all ages and skill levels are invited to sharpen their skills, enjoy friendly matches and connect with others.

Teen Brain Teaser To-Go packs will be available beginning Monday, March 9. Designed for students in sixth grade through 12th grade, the packs will feature a variety of puzzles, and participants can earn a prize for each completed puzzle returned. Supplies are limited and available first come, first served.

Mini Barn Quilts will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 10. Participants can celebrate America 250 by exploring barn quilt designs and painting their own. Registration is required, and participation is limited to 20.

Homeschool Hangout: Leprechaun Trap STEAM Challenge will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12. Homeschool families are invited to connect with one another while participating in activities designed for all ages. Supplies are limited.

The Seed Library will run from March 16 through April 30. Community members can pick up free seeds to plant at home and take part in the spirit of America’s Victory Gardens as part of the America 250 celebration. Supplies are available while they last.

Spice Club will begin Monday, March 16, with a new take-home kit offered each month. Participants can learn about a featured spice’s history, receive simple recipes and try something new in their own kitchens. Supplies are limited.

Teen Take & Makes: Pressed Floral Jars will be available beginning Monday, March 16. Teens in sixth grade through 12th grade can pick up a craft kit at the youth desk to complete at home. Kits are first come, first served.

Kids Club: STEM Activities will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18. Children in kindergarten through third grade can participate in hands-on activities, games and surprises.

Over the Rainbow Cupcakes will take place at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade can decorate bright rainbow cupcakes in a celebration of March. Registration is required, and participation is limited to 16.

The Adult Book Discussion will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20 in the Golden Center. The featured book is “Ladies of the Lake” by Cathy Gohlke. Copies are available at the circulation desk one month prior to the discussion. Coffee and snacks will be provided.

Diamond Art at Home kits will be available beginning Monday, March 23. Teens in sixth grade through 12th grade can pick up a kit to complete at home. Supplies are first come, first served.

Cozy Evenings: Crafts & Cottage Skills for Everyone — Embroidery will be offered at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24. No experience is necessary, and all supplies will be provided. Registration is required, and space is limited to 15 participants.

Minecraft Selfies will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade will blend math and creativity to design a Minecraft-style self-portrait. Registration is required, and participation is limited to 16.

Board Games After School will take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 30 in the teen room. Students in sixth grade through 12th grade are invited for friendly competition and social time.
