Little Theatre earns 8 awards
Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County received eight awards and was named alternate theater to attend the Labor Day State Conference when the theater hosted the East Region Festival of the Ohio Community Theater Association June 14 at Dover High School.
Following their presentation of Jones Hope Wooten’s “Sweet Delilah Swim Club,” Don Irven received a merit for direction, Elizabeth Thomakos a merit for acting and Pam Douglas a merit for props. Excellence awards were earned by actresses Michele Davis and Jackie Luthy, by Thomakos for costumes, and by Joe Compton for set design and for the ensemble.
“Broadway Beach Bound” is the theme of the OCTA state conference in Mount Vernon Aug. 29 through Sept. 1. Zanesville Community Theater was chosen as first representative for its presentation of Euripides’ “Medea.” The third participant was Waterford Players, new to OCTA this year, with its production of “Sylvia” by A.R. Gurney. Responders were Theresa Benyo-Marzullo, Denise Schnieders and Jim Waldfogle.
East Regional representatives who planned the festival include Machelle Miller and Jade Boffo of Little Theatre; Nathan Mayse, Coshocton Footlight Players; and Christy Rahrig, Zane Trace Players.
