The Tuscarawas County Public Library System has added new audio player tools for children and teens, giving families more ways to enjoy stories and music.

The collection now includes 46 Tonie characters, five Yoto player kits and 12 sets of Yoto cards, supported in part by the New Philadelphia Friends of the Library and customer donations. These items are available to check out at all TCPL locations in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas, Sugarcreek, Strasburg and Bolivar.

Leigh Burnham, the library’s technology training coordinator, said the additions were driven by customer requests.

“We had families asking about Yoto Players and Yoto card options, and others curious about checking out individual Tonie characters,” Burnham said. “Since we were already circulating Toniebox kits, it felt like a natural next step to expand the collection and give families who have their own Tonie boxes more variety and more ways to enjoy these great resources.”

A Yoto Player is an audio device where children insert Yoto cards to listen to books. Like the Yoto Player, the Toniebox is a kid-friendly audio player, but instead of cards it uses figurines—called Tonies—that connect magnetically and play stories or music.

“I hope families use the Tonieboxes and Yoto Players to add a little fun to their day, whether it’s a favorite story, a dance break, or some quiet time before bed,” Burnham said. “They’re a simple, creative way for kids to explore and play.”
