The Holmes County District Public Library announced a full schedule of events and programs for August.
On Saturday, Aug. 9, the Holmes Central Library will host Paws to Read from 11 a.m. to noon. Children can read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines.
The STEAM Open House series will kick off Tuesday, Aug. 12 with paper squishies in the children’s room at the Holmes Central Library. Kids can drop in between 10 a.m. and noon or 3-5 p.m. to create their own paper squishie.
On Wednesday, Aug. 13, the program will feature hands-on coding with Ozobot robots, offered during the same hours.
The series will conclude Thursday, Aug. 14 with squishy circuits, where children can learn about electric circuits using Play-Doh, LED lights and mini motors during the same hours.
Story time will be offered at the Holmes Central Library on Fridays, Aug. 22 and 29 at 10:30 a.m., offering stories, songs and rhymes for children age 2-5 and their caregivers.
Following each story time session, the Little Learners Playgroup will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, offering activities that promote reading and social skill for children up to age 5 with an adult. Snacks will be provided.
Adults can join a Book Club on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at Holmes Central Library with two discussion times available. At 1 p.m. the group will discuss “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain, and at 6 p.m. the discussion will focus on “Memorial Days: A Memoir” by Geraldine Brooks.
Story time at the East Branch Library is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 10:30 a.m., offering stories and activities for children age 2-5 and their caregivers.
