Holmes Center for the Arts to hold auditions for ‘Newsies’

“Newsies” is coming to Holmes County.

“Newsies” is a musical based on the newsboy strike of 1899. Auditions are quickly approaching for this historical musical drama.

In-person auditions will be May 2, 5 and 6 from 5-9 p.m. at Center Stage at Holmes Center for the Arts. To secure a spot, visit www.holmescenterforthearts.org and register for a time slot on the online portal.

Virtual auditions also are welcome and are due by May 6. Audition videos should be sent to info@holmescenterforthearts.org. Visit the website for virtual and in-person audition requirements.

“Newsies” will be produced under the direction of Christopher and Jamie White.

Christopher M. White, an experienced director and business leader, is serving as stage director. He owns EQUES Law Group, EQUES Title, RISE Spaces and Working Partners and co-owns The Cider Press.

Jamie White, a former music teacher, is now CCO of EQUES Law Group, Working Partners and one of the owners of The Cider Press. She has directed multiple shows including “Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” “Honk!,” “Annie,” “Clue,” “Little Women,” “Music for Beauty and the Beast,” “Music Man” and “The Death of Jacob Marley.”

She has directed “Messiah” and multiple fall and spring choir shows. She is an award-winning director at state choir competitions with both Fairfield Christian Academy and Hiland Women’s Choir. She is a former board member of HCA and is currently president elect for the Hiland Boosters.

“Newsies” will be presented at Center Stage at Holmes Center for the Arts on June 26, 27, 28 and 29. Tickets can be purchased at www.holmescenterforthearts.org.
