HCECF awards $25,000 grant to Village of Glenmont

Funding will support planning efforts to improve Glenmont’s stormwater system and address long-standing flooding issues.

Glenmont became the newest recipient of the kindness of others through the Holmes County Education & Community Foundation, receiving a grant of $25,000 to support the development of plans to improve the village’s stormwater conveyance system.

The Holmes County Education & Community Foundation announced a grant award of $25,000 to the Village of Glenmont to support the development of plans to improve the village’s stormwater conveyance system.

This planning effort will help address ongoing flooding issues caused by insufficient or undersized infrastructure and the unique topography surrounding the community.

When asked about his thoughts on the project, Chris Young, Holmes County engineer, said, “This is a great project for the Village of Glenmont. It will provide a comprehensive stormwater plan that can be used to leverage future grant funds for construction.”

Mayor Robert “Dusty” Lint said, “We’re grateful to the Holmes County Education & Community Foundation for this grant. It gives us the opportunity to evaluate our storm sewer system and begin planning for a long-term solution. It's an important investment in Glenmont's future.”

Mayor Robert “Dusty” Lint of Glenmont called this recent gift from the HCECF an important investment in Glenmont's future.

This grant is made possible through the Western Holmes County Fund, which was established by a local donor to support projects, improvements and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents across the townships within the West Holmes School District.

“Field of interest funds, like the Western Holmes County Fund, provide a lasting way for donors to support the causes they care about — now and for generations to come," said Holley Johnson, executive director of the Holmes County Education & Community Foundation. "This donor has a deep passion for seeing the western side of our county thrive, and his vision and forethought will make a meaningful impact well into the future.
