It doesn’t take a whole lot of convincing for most people to want to dive into a piping hot plate of pancakes and sausage, but tack on some great conversation while also helping a local nonprofit organization and it’s truly a win-win all the way around.
A pancake and sausage breakfast waits for those hungry during the final day of the Holmes County Fair, and it’s all thanks to H15 Teen Center Ministries, which will present its annual pancake and sausage breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 8-11 a.m. at H15 Teen Center in Historic Downtown Millersburg.
The breakfast will feature pancakes and locally made sausage links provided fresh from His Provisions, served with real maple syrup.
“We have been doing a pancake breakfast fundraiser on the Saturday of the Holmes County Fair for the past several years, and we are quickly approaching the day for this year’s event,” said Andy Schafer, H15 director. “We have really enjoyed doing this event, and it has been pretty successful for raising funds for the teen center.”
While the menu is taken care of, what H15 currently needs is a few volunteers to help set up, make and serve the breakfast, and tear down following the event, and Schafer is throwing out a wide net to see if there are volunteers with a heart to serve youth.
“We need people to help set up, flip pancakes, serve drinks, bus tables and help clean up afterward,” Schafer said. “It really is a lot of fun, and we enjoy getting to chat with people who come in. If you can help, please let me know.”
One reason behind volunteering is for young adults eager to fulfill their community service portion of their application for a Holmes County Education & Community Foundation scholarship.
Others may find this as the perfect opportunity to reach out into the community through service because they desire to give back.
